The reason? Speed matters more to users than capability. The router increased wait times to about 20 seconds on complex queries. Users preferred instant responses even if less sophisticated. This teaches an important lesson about user behavior: in educational contexts, responsiveness often trumps reasoning depth.
For educators designing AI-assisted learning experiences, this is a critical insight. If you want students to use AI tools, make them fast. If you want sophisticated analysis, accept that students might not wait. This tension between capability and responsiveness will shape how AI tools get adopted in classrooms.
